My service is frequently dropping

If you are experiencing repeat drops in the service, you first need to establish if it is the WiFi that is dropping on the physical internet connection.

Remember WiFi drops are common as there are many factors that can impact a WiFi connection such as other devices, the channel your WiFi router is on, the location of the router, other household items, distance from the router, internal walls and many more.

To find out if the issue is WiFi or the internet you will need to power off the WiFi router, disconnect the cable connected to the blue port of the WiFi router and connect this directly to as PC or laptop. If you have a consistent service direct from the POE adapter/ external device, then this issue is not the external internet connection.

Alternatively, you could hard wire all your device to the back of the WiFi router to see if the issue persists as this will rule out a WiFi related issue. This however will not rule out an issue with the router itself.

You will also need to ensure that you have disconnected all devices not currently in use. Device like firesticks or gaming stations can download updates when not in use and can use up a lot of speed in doing so. If you are on a 40 MBOS package, this is shared with the devices in your home, therefore if a firestick is using 28MBPs you will have 12 MBPS left for other devices.

Additionally, you will need to consider what you are doing when you are experiencing these drops. It may the application that you are using that is causing the issue. For example, if you only experiencing drops while using one particular application then it is likely an issue with the applications server.

If you have completed all necessary checks and are still experiencing an issue, please contact us and we will investigate the issue.
